Squadron Sponsoring Committee & Parents Committee
The Squadron Sponsoring Committee (SSC) is the local civilian body that supports the 714 Air Cadet Squadron. Comprised of dedicated volunteers, often including parents and community members, the SSC works in partnership with the squadron's Commanding Officer to ensure the effective delivery of the Air Cadet Program.
Fundraising and Financial Management: Organizing fundraising activities to support squadron needs not covered by the Department of National Defence (DND), such as facility rentals, equipment, and special events.
Administrative Support: Managing the squadron's budget, maintaining financial records, and ensuring compliance with reporting requirements.
Volunteer Coordination: Recruiting and screening volunteers to assist with various squadron activities and events
Community Engagement: Serving as a liaison between the squadron and the local community, promoting awareness and support for the Air Cadet Program.
The SSC operates under the guidance of the Air Cadet League of Canada and its Ontario Provincial Committee. This structure ensures that the squadron receives consistent support and adheres to national standards.
714's Parents committee is just starting up, we will provide more insight as soon as we can.
Ontario Provincial Committee & Air Cadet League Of Canada
Established on April 9, 1941, the Air Cadet League of Canada is a civilian non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the Royal Canadian Air Cadets. In partnership with the DND, the League provides resources and oversight to ensure the success of the Air Cadet Program across the country.
Youth Development: Promoting leadership, citizenship, and physical fitness among Canadian youth.
Aviation Education: Encouraging interest in aviation and aerospace through training and scholarship opportunities.
Community Involvement: Fostering partnerships between squadrons and their local communities to enhance program delivery.
The League's national structure includes provincial committees, such as the Ontario Provincial Committee, which provide localized support and governance.
The Ontario Provincial Committee is the provincial branch of the Air Cadet League of Canada, overseeing the Air Cadet Program within Ontario. With over 8,000 cadets in 119 communities, the OPC plays a crucial role in supporting squadrons like the 714 Air Cadets.
Resource Allocation: Providing funding and resources for activities not covered by the DND, including flying programs and training equipment.
Volunteer Support: Assisting SSCs with volunteer recruitment, screening, and training to ensure effective squadron operations.
Program Oversight: Ensuring that squadrons adhere to national standards and policies, maintaining the integrity of the Air Cadet Program.
The OPC's commitment to inclusivity and accessibility ensures that all youth, regardless of economic means, have the opportunity to participate fully in the Air Cadet Program.
Fundraising & Sponsors
The success of 714 Wasaga Beach Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron would not be possible without the generous support of our local sponsors. Their contributions play a vital role in helping us provide a dynamic, engaging, and educational program for youth in our community.

While the Department of National Defence provides essential funding for the Air Cadet Program, many aspects of squadron life—such as trips, special activities, training equipment, and facility costs—are made possible through local fundraising efforts. These help to ensure the cadet program remains free of cost to Cadets
One of the most important fundraising initiatives for 714 Wasaga Beach Squadron is our Tagging Campaign. Held twice a year (typically in the spring and fall), tagging events involve cadets, in uniform, respectfully collecting donations outside local businesses and public locations. In return, supporters receive a small “tag” as a token of appreciation.
These events serve a dual purpose:
Raising essential funds for the squadron’s operational needs
Promoting awareness of the Air Cadet Program within our local community
We are grateful to the generous businesses and community members who welcome our cadets and contribute to the success of these events.
In addition to tagging, our Squadron Sponsoring Committee (SSC) may organize or participate in:
Community events and fairs
Raffles, dinners, or silent auctions
Partnered initiatives with our sponsors
Every dollar raised helps us deliver a safe, engaging, and rewarding experience for our cadets. We thank our community for its continued support.
